Upcoming Festivals in Austin, TX
Confirming its status as the live music capital of the United States, Austin will yet again play host to a number of major music festivals this summer. As temperatures continue to sizzle, we hope these events will quench some of your thirst for good tunes, fine food, and plenty of spirits. The following are just a few of the events that popped out to us, and we can’t wait to share them with y'all!
First up we have the Waterloo Music Fest at Carson Creek Ranch, scheduled for September 7th-9th. A relative newcomer to the scene, Waterloo will feature an eclectic live-music lineup headed by legendary jam band veterans String Cheese Incident. Playing all three nights, they will be backed by the likes of Joe Russo’s Almost Dead, Railroad Eart, and The Motet, to name just a few. Conveniently located 20 miles south of our North Austin apartments of Marquis at Great Lakes, Waterloo spans three days and includes the option to camp on site on the grounds of beautiful Carson Creek Ranch. Tickets start at $149 for day passes and $239 for on-site camping included, and will most likely sell out fast. Ticket purchasing and more information can be found here. Tickets are likely to sell out, so we definitely recommend reserving your spot today if the event sounds like it might be up your alley!
The following month sees Austin blessed with the return of a true local favorite, the one and only Austin City Limits festival. Held over two weekends in October, the 5th-7th and the 12th-14th, respectively, the festival takes place in beautiful Zilker Park, conveniently located just a few miles from our Northwest Hills apartments in North Austin. As usual, this year’s line-up is heavily stacked, with the likes of Paul McCartney, Childish Gambino, Metallica and Odesza headlining the event. While technically taking place in the Fall, the 90 degree days will still require mandatory elixir cooldowns and relaxed, sun-soaked vibes. It’s never too late to get started on planning for these two epic weekends. Reserve your spots today! Tickets start at $255 for one weekend, and again, we recommend booking ASAP as this will be a popular one!
Looking for something a bit further out of range than the Marquis at Ladera Vista or our apartments near Domain, Tarrytown, and the rest of the boundless attractions that Austin has to offer? For residents who are feeling especially adventurous, a number of festivals within reasonable driving distance will be taking place throughout the great state of Texas later this summer. Are you a fan of slow-cooked meats and American roots music? This year’s 10th annual Bedford Blues and BBQ Fest will go down August 31st through September 2nd, sure to be filled to the brim with briskets and ribs cooked to perfection and rounded off with a generous dose of local and national contemporary blues music talent. A slightly further trek will take you to the neo New-Age funkiness of the one and only Trans-Pecos Festival, held in Marfa, TX from September 20th-23rd. Trans-Pecos brings together a hodgepodge of “live music, camping, sandlot baseball, stars, workshops, art installations and community,” for what can only be described as a wonderfully eccentric collision of culture, couture, and quality live music. Whatever your tempo or temperament, this summer’s festivals within and without Austin city limits (no pun intended!) are sure to dazzle, reminding us once again of the boundless possibilities for music and nightlife in Austin and the surrounding areas. To learn more about exciting events happening near our apartments in Austin, we welcome y’all to give us a call or swing by one of our offices for a visit!
